Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to some of the most common questions about custom orders, materials, shipping, timelines, and the handcrafted work we do at Magnussen Craftworks. If you do not see your question here, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Custom orders start with a conversation. Reach out through our contact page with what you want made, how you plan to use it, and any details you already have in mind. From there, we can talk through design, materials, finish options, and the next steps before the order moves into production.

You can submit a custom quote request through the Custom Quote link in the navigation menu at the top of the page. From there, you can fill out the details of what you are looking for and we will follow up to discuss your project and put together accurate pricing.

Most custom orders start with a conversation about what you want, how the piece will be used, and any details you want included. From there, we work out the design, materials, and timeline before the project moves into production.

Lead times vary depending on current workload and the complexity of the project. Simpler pieces may move faster, while more detailed custom work can take longer. We will discuss timing as part of the order conversation so you know what to expect before the project begins.

Pricing depends on the size of the project, the materials used, the amount of labor involved, and how detailed the build is. The best way to get accurate pricing is to request a custom quote with the details of what you are looking for.

In many cases, yes. One of the goals at Magnussen Craftworks is to make the experience more personal, and part of that includes sharing progress or documenting parts of the build when possible.

Most custom orders require a deposit before the project moves into production. The deposit amount and payment structure will be discussed during the initial conversation when we work out the details of your order. Contact us to get started and we can go over the specifics.

We offer both ready-made items and custom work when available. Some pieces are made ahead of time and listed for sale, while others are built to order based on the customer's request.

Yes. Magnussen Craftworks is both a blacksmithing and woodworking shop. We build custom forged items as well as handcrafted wood products, and we can discuss custom requests depending on the type of project you have in mind.

Material choice depends on the project and the way the finished piece will be used. For forged items and knives, we work with high-carbon steels such as 1084, 1095, and 80CRV2, selected for edge performance and durability. Handle materials are chosen based on function and the customer's preference. For woodworking projects, wood species, finish, and hardware are chosen based on the purpose and appearance of the piece.

Yes. Custom work is meant to be personal, and we can talk through options such as materials, finishes, handle choices, and design details depending on the project.

Yes. Shipping is available outside of Oklahoma. If you have questions about delivery options, shipping costs, or whether a specific item can be shipped to your location, contact us before placing your order and we will help.

Yes. Magnussen Craftworks is based in Claremore, Oklahoma, and the work is done by hand in our shop.

Because custom work is made specifically for the customer, return options may be limited once a project has been approved and completed. If you have a concern about your order, contact us directly so we can talk through the situation.

Care depends on the item and the materials used, but in general, handmade knives should be kept clean and dry, and wood products should be cared for according to their finish and intended use. If you are unsure, contact us and we can give you care guidance for your specific piece.

We do attend local shows, markets, and community events from time to time. Follow us on social media or check back on the site for announcements about upcoming appearances. If you are in the Claremore or northeastern Oklahoma area, seeing the work in person is always welcome.
